The detector is UL-certified to meet safety standards and approved by the ETL. Although it is not recommended to install the device in a garage, it should work fine in other locations. It is also essential to note the difference between the SC06 and SC06-W models, with the latter being part of the X-Sense Link+ series and can be controlled using the X-Sense RC01 remote controller (sold separately). The device works as advertised and is relatively priced, with no problems noted during installation, making it a good value device. However, there are reports of multiple false alarms in some devices, leading some customers to discontinue their use of them. There have also been reports of faulty devices with one of the three devices purchased, lasting less than three months, and going off at inappropriate times.
