The outside measuring jaws are approximately 1-1/2” (38 mm) long, while the inside measuring jaws are approximately 5/8” (16 mm) long.
With a measuring range of 0 to 6 inches and 0 to 150 mm, this digital caliper has a linear accuracy that meets the internationally used Deutsches Institut fur Normung 862: Vernier Calipers Requirements and Testing (DIN 862) standards. The Starrett 798B-6/150 digital caliper boasts 0.0005” or 0.01 mm accuracy, providing reliable and accurate readings every time. The slim, streamlined design and large LCD make it easy to handle and read, while the IP 67-certification ensures electronic components are debris-resistant and can be submerged under standard conditions for up to 30 minutes. One of the standout features of this digital caliper is the induction-type linear encoder system, which offers high precision in measurements by tracking small movements in position by using a conductor moving through a magnetic field. The caliper can be operated with one hand through the fine adjustment roll, while the lock screw can hold the slide in position for added stability.
The hardened stainless steel measuring surfaces offer corrosion resistance and long life, while the heavy-duty bar and slide are a sturdy 3.5 mm thick. Zeroing the caliper has never been easier, with a clearly marked zero button that retains the last measurement position when the caliper is shut off.
