svar: You MUST NOT change it! at least not for a year if not more, idealy never if you know what you're doing. It's bio media, it means it has to be populated by bacteria to start working; it usually takes 4 -8 weeks for full efficiency. It is crucial to put a step up (coarse to medium to fine) mechanical filtration before denitrate, otherwise it will clog quickly and prevent bacteria from populating all the deep surface.
