The thickness when closed is 3/8ths of an inch. However, some reviewers have mentioned that the checkbook cover is a bit tight, making it difficult and uncomfortable to insert check blanks. Others have reported that the back card part had to be trimmed down slightly to slide in the checkbook without crinkling it.
