What is the TERRO T518 Fly Magnet used for?

The TERRO T518 Fly Magnet is designed to effectively capture flies indoors, making it an essential tool for keeping your living spaces free of these pests. It uses a sticky surface to trap flies when they come into contact. Ideal for use in kitchens, dining areas, or anywhere food is prepared, it helps maintain a more sanitary environment. This is particularly useful during warmer months when fly populations tend to rise.

How does the sticky trap work?

The sticky trap works by utilizing a specially formulated adhesive that attracts flies. The flies are drawn in by the scent of the lure included with the trap, and once they land, they stick to the surface. This design minimizes the chances of the flies escaping, providing an efficient solution to fly problems. Users in kitchens and open areas have found this method particularly effective in reducing fly annoyance.

How many traps come in a package?

Each package of the TERRO T518 Fly Magnet contains two traps, giving you a total of 16 sticky surfaces. This dual-pack design is perfect for those needing multiple traps to cover larger areas or different rooms. By placing traps in strategic locations, such as near windows or food sources, users can significantly increase their effectiveness in controlling fly populations indoors.

Can the traps be used outdoors?

The TERRO T518 Fly Magnet is primarily designed for indoor use, as its adhesive may not perform optimally in outdoor conditions with varying weather elements. However, if positioned in a sheltered area, such as a covered patio, some users have reported success. For best results, consider using it in environments like kitchens or dining rooms, where flies are most often a nuisance.

How long do the traps last once set up?

The traps can remain effective until they are fully covered with flies or the adhesive loses its stickiness. Typically, users report that each trap lasts for several weeks, depending on the level of fly activity in the vicinity. Regularly checking and replacing the traps as necessary ensures ongoing protection. This makes it practical for users to maintain a consistent fly control strategy.

Where is the best place to hang the traps?

The best places to hang the TERRO T518 Fly Magnet are near common fly entry points, such as windows or doors, and in areas where food is often present. Hanging them approximately 3-6 feet high can maximize their effectiveness, allowing the traps to attract flies drawn in by scents. Users in kitchens or dining areas have found this positioning leads to significant reductions in fly sightings.

Are there any safety concerns with using these traps?

The TERRO T518 Fly Magnet is created with materials intended for safe indoor use, but it's recommended to keep them out of reach of pets and children, as with any adhesive traps. Always follow the usage instructions and recommendations provided on the packaging. Many users appreciate being able to manage fly issues safely without relying on chemical sprays or other potentially harmful solutions.

How do I dispose of the traps once they are full?

To dispose of the TERRO T518 Fly Magnet traps, simply peel the traps off their hanging locations and seal them in a plastic bag before discarding them with regular waste. This method ensures that trapped flies and adhesive are contained, preventing any mess. Users appreciate this hassle-free disposal process, allowing them to quickly replace full traps and maintain a fly-free environment.

Can I use more than one trap in a room?

Yes, using multiple traps in a single room can enhance effectiveness significantly. By placing several traps throughout the space, you can better target various fly hotspots and increase the capture rate. Users have reported that in areas with high fly activity, such as kitchens or dining rooms, distributing more traps leads to a noticeable drop in the fly population.
