International Editorial Review
The "Arabic Musical Scales: Basic Maqam Notation" book has received mixed reviews from customers, with some praising it as the best resource for learning the maqam system. According to one reviewer, it is the easiest to read and understand among several books they have purchased on the subject. However, there are complaints about the CDs no longer being sold with the book, making it difficult for some customers to access the accompanying material. The search for the CDs or downloads can be challenging due to multiple sources with similar names online. There are also comments indicating that the content may be too advanced for beginners, while others find it lacking in depth regarding the discussion of the practical application of maqam scales. Overall, the book is seen as an elementary introduction to the topic of maqam notation that may not provide comprehensive guidance for learning or understanding the subject. On the positive side, it is described as an excellent resource for individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of world music and exotic scales, with a concise and informative approach by the author. **
